List of Visited and Approved Establishments PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 24 March 2008 21:25

BACKGROUND

At the EAEVE Annual General Assembly held in Naples in 1998, the membership agreed unanimously that at the end of the second cycle of visits (about 2010), a list should be made available classifying each institution in Europe under one of three categories, namely:

1. Visited institutions found to meet the requirements set out in the EU Veterinary Training Directives, as interpreted in the "Guidelines, requirements and main indicators" section of the "Standard Operating Procedures" document, and

2. Visited institutions failing to meet one or more of the requirements set out in the
Directives (so-called category 1 deficiencies), and

3. Institutions not visited.

As an interim measure, it was also unanimously agreed to draw up immediately a list of establishments with no category 1 deficiencies, or where these deficiencies have been rectified. This was to be termed the "positive list". At the plenary meeting of the Advisory Committee on Veterinary Training in March 1999, this concept was approved.
At the EAEVE General Assembly held at Lisbon in 1999, it was agreed that this list would be made available on the EAEVE website.
At the EAEVE General Assembly in Vienna in 2000, it was agreed that this list be renamed "the list of visited and approved institutions".
This list will be periodically updated as and when new institutions qualify for inclusion on the list.
